A refined hideaway tucked in a quiet corner of the capital, where shiny marble stairs and carpeted hallways laden with artworks lead to an exquisite restaurant of exemplary gastronomic experience. Donna E is a fine dining restaurant with an approachable cuisine located inside Elizabeth Unique Hotel, a five-star boutique hotel in the heart of Rome in via delle Colonnette, 35. Its location may be at the very heart of the capital’s main hub of activities but Donna E maintains its intimate ambience, being accessible only through the doors of the hotel and art-laden ornate path.
The Elizabeth Unique Hotel is a distinctive hotel of the Curatella Hotels Group, inside 18th century aristocratic Palazzo Pulieri Ginetti in the middle of Piazza di Spagna and Piazza del Popolo where its ancient history intertwines with the present stories. Studio Marincola, the Roman architectural firm that projected the interior design, furnishings and lighting denotes a refined atmosphere of a prestigious residence. The common areas and rooms are enriched with artistic contemporary content curated by Fabrizio Russo, owner of the historic Galleria Russo just a few steps from Piazza di Spagna. The structure is a member of the Design Hotels, an exclusive community of hotels worldwide united by its identity of the same approach to design, architecture and experience. The name of the boutique hotel recalls a fundamental figure in the history of the Curatella family, their grandmother Elisabetta whose innate capacity to welcome has inspired children and grandchildren to characterize the style and personality of the Elizabeth Unique Hotel.
Donna E is a gastronomic project that pays homage to the Lucanian flavors, a cuisine from the southern Italian region of Basilicata, the origin of Executive Chef Riccardo Pepe and the Curatella family. The chef offers a revisited cuisine which are highly influenced by traditional Lucanian recipes and some Roman dishes. The raw materials are sourced from the both Basilicata and Lazio regions.
Donna E can accommodate 30 in the internal rooms and about 25 on the open outdoor terrace. The gastronomic experience starts early at the restaurant, starting from 7:00 in the morning until midnight, where a rich sweet and savory breakfast is served. The lunch menu is dedicated to easy international dishes and the aperitif (between 18: to 20:30) is a time frame that allows you to dwell on a relaxing snack menu with accompanying drinks available at the bar. Dinner becomes more ample wherein the chef expresses all his inspiration by bringing to the table the Lucanian flavors revisited in a modern key. Recommendable dishes are the Orecchiete Pasta of Burnt Wheat, Crusco Pepper and Breadcrumbs; the Caprese (tomato stuffed with mousse of mozzarella of Basilicata and crumble of bread with olives); and the Donna E Meatballs which is a homage to Elizabeth’s old recipe.
