The first edition of the 2020 Guide of 100 Italian Excellences (100 Eccellenze Italiane 2020) by So Wine So Food, an international enogastronomic magazine in Italy, in collaboration with Forbes Italy, was presented at Mediterraneo Restaurant in MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Art in Rome last 27 January 2020.
The project aims to give recognition to the enogastronomic activities that maintain a high standard and quality of Italian hospitality, service and production. It is a guide of 100 hotels, restaurants, wines and products that underlines the uniqueness of the excellence of Made in Italy.
“There are many guides in Italy and probably there was no need to make another one, then with the friends of Forbes Italia,” Stefano Cocco, Executive Director of the guide and publisher of So Wine So Food said, “we said, let’s do a selection of those who every year, small or large, reflect our ideas, respect, passion, determination, sustainability, desire to do and above all love for food, hospitality and wine.”
“Forbes with the precious and professional help of So Wine So Food,” declares Alessandro Rossi, Director of the guide, “has chosen 100 of these Italian excellences, dividing them into four categories: hotels, restaurants, food products and wines. We have compiled the list with great attention choosing between those who do extraordinary, innovative, unique things, respect tradition, use local products, enhance the territory, have been able to take risks and win.”
Representing the 100 stories of the selection is the guide’s Italian Ambassador Chef Davide Oldani, Chef Patron of Michelin-starred Ristorante D’O in Milan where he created Cucina Pop, a cuisine combining tradition and innovation with quality as the foundation. As a chef who is focused on the exceptionality of raw materials, he finds success in the passionate work of artisans, growers and professionals in the gastronomic sector.
