It’s not everyday that you find a hamburger that’s as succulent and delectable as Chef’s Corner does it and for sure it’s not everyday as well that you get to be served a burger with a pair of black rubber gloves to eat it with. It’s surprising at first but as you take your first bite in that juicy burger, you will be thankful that they thought of giving you a pair. Of course for the burger purists at heart, eat with your hands and enjoy each bite!
Chef’s Corner is a new entry to the restaurant scene in Riga, opened at the beginning of 2019 and had been busy accumulating awards since then. Among the 30 Best Restaurants in Latvia, it was also awarded “Best New Latvian Restaurant” and “Best Drinks”. It highlights its use of premium dry-aged beef making the meat more tender and flavorful, which depending on the length of aging, can give buttery and nutty flavors.

There is an ample selection of steaks available in the menu like Chateaubriand (€48.70 for 500 g.), Rib-Eye (€10.40 per 100 g.), T-Bone (€29.50 for 450 g.) and Porterhouse (€38.20 for 500 g.). The beef are sourced from different origins like the Simmental from the Netherlands, Wagyu from Australia, and Aberdeen Angus from the UK.
Heading the kitchen is Chef Eric Livmanis who has an inclination in going for the dramatic flavors of the unexpected combinations of ingredients.
Surprise is a key element in his cuisine and it is what the designation that Chef’s Corner is marking on. According to Chef Livmanis, “Understanding the product, I can intuitively combine it with seemingly incompatible ingredients.”
But Chef’s Corner has a treasure of options in their menu from a variety of oysters, Tartare and Raw Seafood and Meat (€8.60 to €16), Appetizers (€10.20 to €15.20), Main Dishes of Seafood and Meat (€17.50 to €24.40), and Desserts (average of €7.50). The proposals are interesting with international influences like the Marbled Beef Carpaccio (€16), Caramelized Foie Gras with Cream Roquefort, Homemade Brioche and Cognac Glazed Cherry (€15.20), Octopus Burger (€18), and Squid with Carbonara Sauce and Fermented Egg Yolk (€10.90). The wine list has an ample selection of good international labels with predominance of French followed by Italian wines.
An impeccable restaurant, Chef’s Corner doesn’t let anything slip by for the comfort and satisfaction of each their diners with the diligence of the dining staff in giving proper attention. A modern ambience in the quiet center of Riga, Chef’s Corner is a splendid location for a relaxing gourmet meal.
